letterpress class:

February 24, 2010

so i've taken a letterpress class before, over a year ago. i love it, i could letterpress all day long :) a couple months ago, i convinced nicholas to take a new letterpress class with me. isn't he the sweetest? he actually really liked it and we made lots of great projects. our teacher, madeline, was super helpful and sweet. here are some images from the class.

we got to make notecards and print 2 color!
we had to hand set the type for these.
we used a tabletop press for these..

we printed business cards on the vandercook press, with polymer plates!
nick went with an old game controller, i really like how they turned out.

it was really a lovely class! if you have opportunity to take a class near you, it is a lot of fun. though it may not be available in all areas.. i often see classes offered in cities like sf and ny.

40 hello's:

  1. I am soooo jealous! Are you totally addicted yet? Now I'm on a mission to find a class!

  2. I took a class at the Atlanta Printmakers Studio last summer and just printed my own wedding invitations. This weekend I'll finish a set of invitations for a friend and some business cards for my fiance. It's so much fun! I definitely recommend it. it's also really nice to do something creative and concrete after working at a computer all day...

  19. OOh!! Fun! My husband and I ran a tabletop letterpress (at our friend's instruction) to print our wedding invitations. Not only did it save us a load of $ but it was fun to create our invitations and see the process from beginning to end and we were able to keep our plates! The ink color was matched to the sapphire in my engagement ring and mixing the ink was really fun!!! I'm wanting to do some stationary next. Super fun! Great post! <3
