What can I say? I am a sucker for romance, particularly Jane Austen. I could sit and read Austen novels all day long. I wanted Nick to wear a Mr. Darcy outfit for our wedding, he decided no on that one ;) Something about that time period and the culture back then. So civilized, polite, & proper. Is anyone else out there a fan?
I like to think Nick & I have our own pride & prejudice story, we met at poker night and I instantly was not a fan of his, he seemed to be arrogant and so annoying! But he eventually won my heart. Oh, here are my favorite movie adaptations if you haven't seen these: persuasion <-- my favorite! emma, pride & prejudice, mansfield park - they are definitely worth watching!
Anyway, here is a random collection of jane austen-related images! Enjoy!

Ooo, sister after my own heart, I LOVE Jane Austen!! I've read almost all her books .. Persuasion is my favorite.. Love the images!
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't know all the stories had been "made into movies" ... so cool! Will definitely have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteLovely post :) I adore all of Jane Austen's work - her stories are so transporting! I think my favorite movie adaptation is Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly as Elizabeth- so amazing!
ReplyDeleteHello, darling!
ReplyDeleteThis post utterly made my heart go all aflutter. I absolutely adore it.
I've never read any Jane Austen novels but I swoon over all the beautiful British film adaptations! In my top five favourite movies Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley is definitely there.
These images are all breathtaking and now you make me want to go watch one of these films♥
I adore this romanticized era as well!
xoxox
I too am a huge fan! i just love that time period. I wish i had been born back then sometimes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely round-up! I simply adore anything and everything Jane Austen. And, the Masterpiece Theater adaptation of Persuasion is by far my favorite movie. It's nice to find someone else who feels that way. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've read half of Sense & Sensibility, and some of Pride & Prejudice. They're on my summer reading list. And I *adore* the Laurence Olivier version of P&P. Fantastic!
ReplyDeletelove love this! especially the photo of all the girls in white. i will never tire of austin nor all the incarnations. thanks
ReplyDeleteaaaaaa! A blog post after my own heart!!
ReplyDeleteahh!!! what a lovely way to start my morning!! thanks for all of these beautiful images! Jane Austen is my all time fave! I've watched the Colin Firth version more than I can count! :)
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE jane austen! <3
ReplyDeleteDen
Ahhh loooove Jane Austen - currently re-reading Persuasion :)
ReplyDeleteI adore Jane Austen! Oh, I love Persuasion and Emma. What do I love most? The way the men spoke so candidly and beautifully about their emotions. Men don't do that anymore. Oh, and I love the clothes. You cannot go wrong with lace trim and flowing dresses.
ReplyDeleteWow! a nice one! i love Jane Austen too :)
ReplyDeleteI saw this on my FB feed and jumped to it immediately. When first viewing the movie of Pride & Prejudice (2006), I was struck by a previously unknown love for the manners, decor, life, speech, and fashion of the Regency.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely post! Amid all of the good cheer deals, I feel like there have been fewer gems like this one.
I was always a huge fan of Pride and Prejudice, but the Johnny Lee Miller version of Emma officially won my heart over. Mr. Knightly is definitely my favorite Austen hero! Love this post--now I want to have a Jane Austen marathon.
ReplyDeleteThis post needs more Colin Firth.
ReplyDeleteKidding (slightly) aside, I love Ang Lee's adaption of Sense and Sensibility. Alan Rickman (my favorite actor) was perfect as Col. Brandon and as far as I am concerned Hugh Laurie pretty much auditioned for House with his portrayal of Mr. Palmer. Sigh, I simply adore that film.
LOVE! I never get tired of watching these! The 2005 P&P is so beautiful. And that recent Emma is so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. Thank you for sharing! I am taking a Romantic Literature class, and we are at the beginning of discussing Jane Austen, and some of her works. We just finished Sense and Sensibility; next week, Pride and Prejudice, and the following week we will read Emma. I am looking forward to them! I think I will spend the summer reading the rest of her books. :)
ReplyDeletelove this post. totally forgot that carey mulligan was in the keira knightly "pride and prejudice"! the penguin cloth jane austen editions are really beautiful if you haven't picked them up yet!
ReplyDeleteGreat feature on Jane Austen! I absolutely love her work, she is simply marvelous. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pride & prejudice tale of your own! I am happy for you and that you were able to have your very own Mr. Darcy and happy ending. :D

WOW. Thanks Danni for doing this. I taught English Lit almost 15 years ago and I am a HUGE Austen lover. This made my day!
ReplyDeleteI love Jane Austen, my favorite being Pride and Prejudice!! Thanks for the lovely pics and reminding me why I love old romance books.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best post ever, I love all things Jane Austen, especially Pride & Prejudice! :)
ReplyDeleteI could (and often do!) read and re-read all of her novels, they are perfect :] What a Lovely post, it made me want to pick up 'Emma' and dive right in. I'm lucky enough to live 10 minutes away from where they filmed 'Pride & Prejudice' (the one with Colin Firth in) and it's so nice to go and walk round the big hall pretending i might bump into Mr Darcy : ] xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous collection of photos and quotes! I can't get enough of Jane Austin...have read all of the books and seen most of the screen adaptations.
ReplyDeleteOh! I could completely get lost in here! Love, love, love Jane Austen!

this post just made my heart smile. love jane austen! now you have me in the mood to watch pride & prejudice! xo
ReplyDeleteSo pretty... I love Jane Austen's work.
ReplyDeleteDear Sweet Jane!
ReplyDeleteI think that because of the BBC production back in 1995, there has been a massive zeitgeist that still goes on, which is delightful to us loooooooooong time fans (back when little girls were reading their Jong, we little fans clutched Persuasion to our hearts, knowing that true love transcends the zipless you-know-what)
Thank you for posting! A delightful reminder that not only is her writing delicious (and terrible movies like Keira Knightley's PP can be pushed through with exuberant audiences!) but her ideas on relationships is still with us.
I too am an Austen fan. I just recently finished reading all her novels. I also have two of those books that are posted in the last image. I bought them at one of my local bookstores and I love how small and dainty they are.
ReplyDeleteLove her too! Becoming Jane is one of my fave movies, love Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy together. Something about the high collars for men, so hot! :)
ReplyDelete@Trude LOL, YES! agreed on the high collars. ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved becoming jane but it's so intense! I can't watch it because it's not a Jane Austin novel happy ending at all! So romantic though. Same thing as atonement with James McAvoy & Keira Knightly.. So sad at the end!
@Jenae I have seen that shop, LOVE that Mr. Darcy shirt! So want to get it for Nick! ;)
ReplyDeleteTotal fan, yes. Although I'm somewhat a snob about film adaptations. The newer ones all seem like rubbish to me; love the older ones the best.

I'm a die hard fan of Miss Jane. And you picked all my favorite movie versions. :) Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteI think I have read ever adaptation of pride and prejudice there is...I sometimes wish I could transport back to that time period and live Lizzy's life:)
ReplyDeleteCaptain Wentworth always makes me swoon!
ReplyDeleteI'm a serious Janeite. My hometown Jane Austen Society has a yearly tea, complete with visiting lecturers on all things Regency and I attend every year. I am trying to sew a replica gown to wear sometime...
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's no surprise that I'm kind of seriously swooning right now over this post!
UGH, LOVE Jane Austen!! I have walked were Darcy and Lizzy are walking in the one image of there! so cool being in that location! i love the 6-hr BBC version of P&P, but i love Jane from the more recent P&P more...she's such a doll. love this round up of images! now i think i need to go watch some Jane Austen films tonight...
ReplyDeleteOhh, I absolutely adore Jane Austen! And that first image you have in this post--that book? Yup, I own that. The full collection of her novels. LOVE.
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at all these pictures too! Have you ever read/watched Northanger Abbey? It's one of Austen's best, I think. Adorable, and quite amusing. I love it. :)
Eek!! This post makes me so happy! I love Jane Austen and was totally in love with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy when I was little :) The tea cup cookies are too lovely :)
ReplyDelete<3
What a cool post--I love all things Austen too!
ReplyDeleteI have to know..WHO is the dark haired guy in the picture under the photo of all of the Bennett ladies linked arm in arm (from the K. Knightly version of P&P)
Persuasion is my all time fave and those are in my opinion all the best adaptations!
ReplyDeleteYou have most certainly stolen my heart today. I swoon at all things Jane Austen. Makes me want to fly to the English countryside at once and revel in regency balls. xo
ReplyDeleteLovely collection!
ReplyDeleteI love Austen. Pride and Prejudice is the first book I remember reading and absolutely loving, to the point where I couldn't put it down. I read it in three days straight (which is abnormal for me as I'm a seriously slow reader usually) but since I read it, Persuasion fights for the top spot.
You're a very lucky girl, most probably have a little bit of Austen envy and you actually got your own version. That's a very sweet story. :) Em x
I love Jane Austen, I have yet to read one of her books but want to very soon! I also love the movies :D Great pics!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this post!! i looooove persuasion.
ReplyDeleteI love this post! i also love miss austen as well!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely LOVE jane austen! what a great post! my favorite film adaptations are all the bbc versions, of course. last year, pbs had a marathon of all jane austen bbc films and i almost died. so good.
ReplyDeleteSighing. I love this time period, and smoldering eyes are always in fashion.
ReplyDeleteTotal Jane Austen fan here. Love her books, love the era, the romance of it all...all of it. I have the books, and DVDs as well. Thanks for posting up the photos - lovely! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that my photos are included in this lovely ode to Austen :)
ReplyDeletep.s. my favourite Austen novel is 'Persuasion'.
LOVE this post! those pictures are fantabulous! my first experience with jane austen was seeing the keira knightly version of p&p in theatres. later, i watched the bbc version with colin firth and wasn't used to it- now i think it's so much better!!! i heart mr. darcy!!!
ReplyDeleteDanni, what loveliness! I know the Keira Knightly Pride & Prejudice may not be everyone's favorite version, but I love it. Something about the music and scenery has this calming effect and soothes my soul after a long day.
ReplyDeleteOoooh.. I love Jane Austen and I love this post! That first photo is really something. This may be my favorite collection here on Oh, Hello Friend yet!
ReplyDeleteI really love the Kiera Knightly version of P&P! All the costumes and details are so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThere is this show my roommate and I watch on Monday nights- it's called 'Lark Rise to Candleford.' It's Jane Austen esque. It's a BBC fictional series based on a 19th Flora Thompson novel based in England the English countryside. It's delightful!!
Great post! I love the books & BBC adaptations too!
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen them, you need to look into 'Miss Austen Regrets' and 'Lost in Austen' by the BBC!!
Ahhhh Austen....my advisor, friend, helper, sister, mother...she is wonderful!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the eye candy!!!
Ruthiexxx

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Display... that cookie is to die for!
ReplyDeleteThe best Jane Austen adaptation has to be the BBC version for television starring Colin Firth.
ReplyDeletewatched the persuasion movie and looooved it! so so beautiful. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI beyond Jane Austen. On my down days, I will sit and watch the entire 5 hours of the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I love the costumes and the language that people use.
ReplyDeleteI've read all of the books, but there is something about Emma that I just can't get on with. Even the film drove me a bit mad.
I love love love this post. I have been thinking how to go about a Jane Austen post for ages adn you just did it perfectly.
THANK YOU
danni you are a woman after my own heart - I LOOVVE jane austen! and persuasion is my favorite too! :) this totally brightened up my day - thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteliz :)
ME TOO! Jane Austen fans unite!
ReplyDeleteI like that version of Persuasion too, but don't you think it's kind of funny how much Anne RUNS in the last couple scenes? Poor actress.
My fave is....hmm, I don't know, I love them all, but especially the BBC Pride and Prejudice and also the new Kiera Knightly one, and the BBC Sense and Sensibility. And Emma! (The Gwyneth Paltrow one) Mr. Knightly!!!
There is nothing sweeter than romance thriving in the heart.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE your compilation of beautiful Jane Austen moments. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite story of all time and I collect different editions every time I see one at a used book store or thrift shop :) And I love knowing that there are other suckers for romance out there <3 PS your honey would have looked so dashing in a Darcy-inspired ensemble!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I just saw this post and I'm sharing with my social networks! You had me at "JANE" haha. I wrote a post on dating/relationships using Pride & Prejudice as the main example about the WISDOM found in Austen's books that modern women should employ. I hope you find it useful if I may share it here with your readers: http://actsoffaithblog.com/channeling-the-wisdom-found-in-jane-austens-books -- Thanks!
ReplyDeletei absolutely love your blog and your inspirations and i am a big jane austen fan too! i have moments throughout the year where i crave Jane Austen stories and movies. great collection of photos!
ReplyDeleteSharing this on my blog, I am a HUGE Jane Austen and P&P fan. Love these pics! Desperate Houselife
ReplyDeleteMansfield Park is my favorite but that version is awful. Have you seen the one from BBC? So much better! I love and own that Emma, Persuasion, and Pride and Prejudice. And there is a masterpiece BBC Sense and Sensibility that is better than the Emma Thompson one.
ReplyDeleteLove all these Pictures!
