So a couple weeks ago, Nicholas & I headed for a little date night at the drive in theater! There is something so nostalgic and awesome about drive in theaters and I'm really glad they haven't shut this one down yet! (since all others in this area are closed) We grabbed some snacks, pillows, and blankets. Thought I'd share some pics with you!
$8.50, not bad since they feature 2 movies!
I'm not a big popcorn fan but I do like cracker jack!
So we grabbed some of our favorite snacks and some fruit.
Fruit dipped in Nutella is also good too ;)
Nutella with pretty much anything is yummy.
*Note: We didn't keep the lights on the entire time.
I just thought they were cute for pictures ;)
If you're in the orange county area, I totally recommend going to the Drive-In for a fun date night with someone special or with friends!
So that was it! We saw bridesmaids and we were going to stay for another movie but it started raining! How random is that - for June summer weather. I'm not complaining though, It was so cozy and I would have stayed in the rain but our blankets were getting all wet.
ps: Not sure how updated this site is but there's a list of drive in's by state at this website if you want to check and see if there are any in your area!
most of these photos were taken by Nicholas,
i snapped some too ;)
Yall are just the cutest! I love all your little touches to EVERYTHING you do! The pillows and quit, and ADORABLE picnic basket full of fun food and the lights.... seriously. The cutest! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteoh my...this looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThats the most welcoming drive in set up I've seen! When I lived in Texas, we had a drive in 1/4 mile from our house. I loved going there! My crush on jonathan brandis began there after seeing lady bugs :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond adorable! You guys are such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad we don't have drive-ins in the UK! Your evening looks amazing. :D
ReplyDeleteah! i'm dying! these photos are so so so cute...seriously looks like a photo shoot! my husband and I just moved to texas, and there's a drive-in in our town that I'm excited to visit...thanks for the inspiration! xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet date! I love the drive-in.
ReplyDeleteI Love this idea (and the photos!) I am going to look up our closest drive in and take my sweetie as soon as I can. {PS - how did you do the lights? with a battery pack?}
ReplyDeleteThis is so precious! You single handedly made the drive in glamorous and all grown up. This should be featured in a Martha Stewart magazine.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this post! How fun and romantic.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Love them.

i loooved going to the drive-in theatre as a kid! i just heard about one in our area.. definitely want to check it out this summer. really wishing we had a hatchback though!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite possibly the most adorable date I have ever seen! The lights! The blankets! The CRACKER JACK in popcorn bags!
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious of the drive-in too. I grew up in Indiana, and they were all over the place. We used to slip into pj's, drive out into the middle of the corn fields, and catch a good double feature.
Now we're in Denver and the drive-ins are vanishing! I wouldn't even know where to go to find one now!
aw what a fun date!!!! love the picnic basket and your outfit, danni!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ADORABLE date night idea! I am gonna have to do this one with my husband in the near future! <3
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable in 100 ways!!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are SUPER cute! I love this simple idea of having a date with someone special. Love the way you styled the pictures! Sounds like it was lots of fun!!

ReplyDeleteYou guys are so adorable!!! I hope one day I'll be in a loving relationship like you and Nick :)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! Looks great and cozy and love all those snacks!! Don't know where the closest drive-in to us is...me and the hubs really need to go do something fun though!
ReplyDeleteDanni, I just love these adventures you take. You really know how to make life special and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. You remind me to do the same. This little adventure is so cute and I love that picnic basket you packed!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos, I'll definitely have to take a cue from you next time I go to my local drive in. They are so much fun, and luckily they are also usually a better deal than the traditional movie theaters ;).
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious. The local drive-in closed sometime ago & I really miss it. Really great pics & I agree that nutella with anything is good.
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect date! love all the blankets and the food - esp. the gummy bears!! :)
ReplyDeletethis looks like so much fun! I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are just the cutest. I've never been to a drive-in but have always wanted to go. Lucky you for having a hatchback to watch from too!
ReplyDeleteThis is just so cute, Danni! Every summer we are thinking of going to see a movie outdoors, but then we never end up doing it. This looks so perfect! :-)
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness - I didn't know you could still do this!!!
ReplyDeleteObviously, in rainy Brittain we've never had such a thing - but it looks amazing. And your car - with treats and pillows - I would LOVE that!
fee x
(you look so innocent sitting there...)
I recently went to one near Dallas in Ennis, TX -- so much fun! Definitely a unique experience. And it was so cheap - 2 movies for $6. Love your cardigan, by the way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect idea for a date! Love your basket, next time can I go with you? You have the best snacks! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest date ever!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome drive-in setup!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love drive-ins! We are lucky enough to have two nearby. Wow, you go all out with the blanket and lights and everything, it all looks so darling.
ReplyDeleteGoing to a drive in cinema is on my list of things I want to do once in my life. I've been to US several times but never had a chance to experience this. I'm planning another trip to US next year and I will definitely be on the lookout for one of these :)
ReplyDeleteHow much fun is that! Jealous.
ReplyDeletei live in the UK and there aren't any drive in cinemas open any more, such a shame! where did you get your lovely dress and cardigan? i have been looking for an outfit like that for ages!
ReplyDeleteI so wish we had drive-ins here in the uk, i suppose the weather has something to do with it, lol! looks like you had a lovely evening and the fairy lights were a touch of genius! And yes nutella is good with everything!xox
ReplyDeleteThat looks so fun! All the drive-ins...er, THE drive-in in KC is kinda sketch. Yours looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteWanted to tell you also, that I ordered the camera necklace from you a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday, and your packaging is SO CUTE! Cannot wait to give it to her. {and see the pretty necklace inside!} Thanks so much!
ohh cute! love this post :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable set up! looks so comfy. I so wish we had a drive in in our area. What a fun thing to do on summer nights!
ReplyDeleteoh how fun, it has been a very long time since I have done that
ReplyDeletewow! my drive-in movie experience was definitely not as gorgeous as yours! love the set-up in the back of your car - also, nutella is a must for movie nights!
ReplyDeleteHow magical! Sadly all the drive ins around us have been torn down. I might have to take a sheet and make a screen in the yard just to relive the magic. Love the lights in the car.
ReplyDeleteLove this! havent been to a drive in for so long! theres one in san bernardino that we go to from orange county but i didnt know about this one!
ReplyDeleteblogged about you here :)

Why do you daffy women have to try and turn every damn thing into a Martha Stewart photo shoot? can't you just eat the friggin' Cracker Jack and watch the movie? Jeez.
ReplyDeleteI used to go to this exact drive-in as a kid, and I have so many great memories of it! I didn't even know it still existed.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go after the beach with my parents, and all of my cousins would pile into the back of our Jeep with a bunch of blankets. My dad would go to the concession stand and come back with Icees, Red Vines, and all sorts of other sweet treats. It never looked quite as cute as your picnic, alas.
These memories have always made me want to build a really lovely and safe, modern drive-in, perhaps attached to a fantastic mini-golf course (not sure how that drive-in is now, but I remember it being somewhat sketchy). Thanks for bringing back such fond memories!
Awww, my first date with the boyf was to a drive-in movie. It's pretty run down now, and I'm dreaming of the day we can find another one in my neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! We have done drive-ins before but it was never quite this cute :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh my goodness I just said "awwww!" about 20 times reading this!! Too cute!! I live super close to Orange County..this is going on my summer to do list asap!
ReplyDeleteXO Lindsay
so fun!! the prius is perfect for everything!
ReplyDeletej.
This is so fun! What a great date night!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! I love it! So cute!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I'm in OC and didn't know there were any drive-ins around, although this one is a little far from me. What an awesome post!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that darling picnic basket? I've been looking for one like this and had no luck finding!
ReplyDeleteIs this drive-in located in NJ? We have never been to one located in Vineland, NJ, but I thought it was called the Delsea Drive In. My van has a tailgate option in which the 3rd row seats flip to face out the back. Can you believe we have never used them that way?! Must do, and the lights are the cherry on top!
ReplyDeleteSo, you didn't have any issues going in your Prius. I want to take my boyfriend to a movie this week before they are done for summer and am worried...What did you do to make it work well without killing the battery?
ReplyDeleteNo problems going in your prius? I want to take my boyfriend to a drive in movie this weekend, before summer is gone, and am worried about draining the battery...
ReplyDeleteAdorable pictures, by the way :)
Cute idea for the prius! I have a prius and live near OC... will add this to my list of things to do before leaving California! xo caroline
