Lovely giveaway this week from 31 bits. There are so many things I love about this shop. Firstly, the products and all the photography are simply breathtaking and gorgeous. Second, they support woman in Uganda through purchasing handmade jewelry which allows for these woman to become more economically stable. The ladies who started 31 bits have built up a beautiful company and organization, now buying from over 100 woman in Uganda. You can read about the Uganda designers here.

Here's the mission statement: 31 Bits Designs is a socially minded business designed to give internally displaced women in Northern Uganda an opportunity to counter poverty. By giving our beneficiaries access to the international market, they are able to earn an instant income, providing homes, food, and education for their families. Our program equips women by providing literacy education, financial and vocational training, holistic care, and strong support systems, empowering individuals to further their careers and attain social equity.

    I got so distracted yesterday looking at the jewelry I didn't come back to enter the giveaway. You're right about the photography and story - both are so compelling. I would expect that for some jewelry that looked like it was made by my kid brother but it's okay "because it means a lot" but these are beautiful pieces!!! My favorite is the Orchard Bunch - I'll probably buy it in navy blue and hope that I win so I can get it in another color ;)

    like so many wonderful things, i've discovered 31 bits through blogging. since i'm not a lover of shiny or flashy jewelry, i'm always looking for pieces that are unique and interesting. 31 bits definitely fits that criteria for me. my favorite piece is the "mayfair" necklace.
