Hi Friends! Sorry for the missed post yesterday. Nick & I were getting house business taken care of. Oh, update on that for anyone interested! :) Our offer got accepted!! You sort of feel like a champ if your offer 'wins' over others. We've since gotten a home inspection and that guy basically told us we needed to call all these other guys in to get issues checked out. There were lots of issues, which we expected. Forgot to mention that the house we're looking at is a foreclosure and we're buying it as-is! They're not paying to fix anything. So that's bummer. But that is what we have been up to. I think I realized through this process that I am a really skeptical person. I don't know why.. We had a foundation specialist come out to look at the foundation, he crawled underneath the house and told us it was fine. But for some reason even afterward I still doubted what he said. I don't want to be skeptical! I think I just need to let go and trust. Anyway, yesterday we went to sign papers for the loan and it was all so exciting but scary at the same time. But I kind of felt like a real grown up ;) Buying a house is kind of crazy. It's cool life experience because once you get a house, now you know how the whole house thing works - it's really not as complicated as I thought it was. Honestly though, I'm not celebrating until the keys are officially in our hand. I haven't let myself get too excited about the whole thing. Don't get me wrong. I love this house! Nick said I treat it like a relationship. I don't want to get hurt by it so I've distanced myself. Our agent & Nick keep asking me, "do you even like this house?" haha. I love it. But I know a bunch of things could go wrong or fall through. So I just don't want to have my heart set on anything. Here are a couple more pics from the other day we were there. Nick likes the hallways and I like the porch! Thanks for sharing in this whole house journey with us.
ANYWAY! So that's that. Next week is reader appreciation week where I will show my great appreciation and love for all you guys - the readers! I hope you'll join in and check back :) There will be daily deals from my shop and daily giveaways and a couple other features.
This weekend we are headed to Sacramento for my grandma's 86th birthday! I'm excited to see family, we have a big family on my mom's side, we don't get to see them a lot but when we do it's a lot of fun. What are you up to this weekend? Any exciting adventures? Or perhaps staying close to home? Either way, I am sure it will be lovely and I hope you all have a splendid weekend! See you next week for the big reader appreciation extravaganza!
I hope everything goes well with the house! And if it does you should do a before & after blog of certain rooms :)
ReplyDeleteWe bought our house "as is" and it was in pretty bad shape. We are still working on fixing things up but we love it and are so happy here. I wish the same for you! Congratulations!

Danni! Congrats to you and Nick :) And here's hoping everything falls into place nicely. Is that the same house you shared on instagram with the cool built-ins (but dark walls) by the fireplace?
ReplyDeleteI hope the house stuff goes well too! I know it can be so scary. But front porches are always nice, so there's something to dream about :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my last weekend of college, so my fiancé and I are going to the formal with some friends and then out to a bar crawl after. I'm so excited! Have a wonderful weekend wih your family :)
Hey Dani! Let me know if you guys need help with your landscape! <3 Nelly
ReplyDeleteAwesome! My husband and I have been living in our foreclosure-bought-as-is home for a month now! It is a process that is for sure!
ReplyDeleteStay strong, and keep the end result in mind! Happy Weekend!
Your house-to-be looks charming...so "you"! =) I hope that it does turn out to be all you want it to be and better. There will be things that need fixing and have issues from time to time. It's just the way it goes with home ownership! But it happens with brand new homes too! So just think of it as adding your own love and touch to it. And hopefully the good parts will far outweigh the bad. I can't wait to see you guys get the keys and decorate it with your own flair. I will want to move in with you, I suspect! =) Bext to you and thanks for sharing. Happy Birthday wishes to your grandmother too. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to your blog next week too.
ReplyDeletecongrats girl! based on those two photos, it looks lovely! that built in storage is so cool!
ReplyDeleteDanni! I live in Sacramento!!!!! If you have time, let's meet up at a cafe or something. I'd love to meet you finally!!!!
ReplyDeleteps... loving that house. That porch has me dreaming.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on the house. You sound like me with all your doubts. you got this house for a reason. Good or bad. I cannot wait to see what you do with it!

ReplyDeleteFingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you two!! We have been looking for homes too but haven't found anything in areas we like. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, so excited for you both. I love the pics of the house by the way.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your (almost) new home, how exciting! Hubby and I are still looking and we have to be out of our condo in just over a month now, so we're getting a little impatient! But, we're trusting the Lord has his hands in the entire situation, so we're not worried about it, just anxious. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and Nick on the house, Danni! I love the halls AND the porch. I hope everything works out perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Danni! Our first house was a wreck and, looking back, we can't believe that we actually tackled such a crazy reno but we had so much fun doing it! Hope everything works out and you can take possession soon :) ~Lily
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting Danni! I hope that everything works out for you but i totally know where your coming from. So many things can happen, especially with forclosures, that I acted the same way and didnt really allow it to sink in until I had the keys, then i was way excited!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip up north!
Wow, that is so amazing, Danni! Good luck as you iron out all the details - I hope everything goes perfectly. Can't wait to see more photos and hear more about it!
ReplyDeleteWe bought a foreclosure as-is as well. I will say that most things that you see as "wrong" when you are signing the papers go away quickly with some quick upgrades. In our case, there were some major things on the inspection that we just sort of had to take with a grain of salt and say "oh well". They'll either get fixed or they won't and we'll just have to live with that knowing. As long as they're not a danger to your day-to-day life, its probably ok if they wait a couple years to happen.
ReplyDeleteIs this the older one that you were super excited about??
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the house!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo ... congrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having your offer accepted! I know exactly how you feel on distancing your self...my husband and I are looking to buy and the let down is sometimes too much to take. I know everything will work out in the end just as I hope it does for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you! Sometimes I feel like house hunting and the approval process can bring out the crazy side in all of us! I know it did for me! :) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteJust the hallway alone looks super cute! :) So happy for you and Nick...congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! May the house purchase go well.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your grandmother.
I'm getting my hair cut and styled this weekend and am hoping it doesn't rain or snow again. Enjoy your weekend!
Yay, congrats Danni. I love the hallway with all the build ins and nook, and you are so lucky to have a porch too. I'm so happy for you guys. Enjoy the process.

Congratulations on the house! but I do know what you mean about not celebrating until the keys are in your hand. Buying a house can be very emotional.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the house! Good luck with getting everything taken care of. Hopefully there isnt anything too major! Tell your Grammy Happy Birthday from all of us! ❤
ReplyDeleteThat house looks so nice. I hope everything will goes fine and congrats for getting that lovely house.
ReplyDeleteI love the porch on this house (I wish mine had one!) I am really excited to see what next week holds in store for reader appreciation! I know you have come up with something wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the house. I was exactly the same way as you. It was my first house purchase (husband's 2nd) and I was all ready for it to just not go right.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'd agree that once you do it once, you know how to do it and it is easy (or at least, I wouldn't do it on my own without my sidekick who used to work in the mortgage business and caught a whole bunch of stuff in our foreclosure purchase process that I just didn't even have the language to ask about).
But I do feel more adult now (smile).

Congrats on the house! It's such a bundle of mixed emotion: excitement, fear, grown-up-ness, scary, happiness :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Danni on the house! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you guys do to fix it up.
I know it'll be awesome!
<3 Courtney
I hope it all goes well with the house! Fingers cross you'll get the keys soon :)
ReplyDeletecongrats and so exciting about the house!! or the possibility of it anyway! :)
ReplyDeletei am in escrow (and hopefully!) days away from closing. it's been a crazy challenge to keep my excited heart from getting overly involved and passionate about the house until i hold a set of keys in my hand. everything is settling, but the waiting for paperwork and details to solidify is excruciating!
embrace the process though. all the stressful, excruciating bits and all. home is home whenever. :)
Aw Congrats on the offer getting accepted Danni! I can't wait to go through the process. I'm from Sacramento, I heard the weather is going to be great this weekend so here's to hoping!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Evani
Congrats Danni! You're going to love fixing up the house, it looks pretty from what I can see so far :)
