Morning or Night person?

Images: Evesand / Wider Awake

I was thinking the other day about how I am most productive in the morning. Like, I really do my best work when I get an early start to the day. I've been waking up around 6:30ish and it just keeps getting earlier. The other day I found myself up and awake at 5:30! Crazy. I have never been able to sleep in and I don't like sleeping in. Poor Nick. He loves sleeping in.

The other day I called my brother at 10:30 am and he was still in bed! That would drive me crazy. haha. But everyone is different. My brother just stays up super late and works, sometimes until 2-3am. I can't remember the last time I stayed up that late! I'm usually in bed by 10. He's more of a "night owl" and says I'm weird for getting up so early. So what about you? Are you a day/morning person or a night time person? I don't really meet a lot of morning people, but I am sure there are some out there! :)

  1. i love these prints! so pretty. as i'm getting older (well, 25 can't really be considered THAT old), i've become so much more of a morning person. my partner kristie + our dog would both sleep all day if they could! i love the quiet, dark time to myself in the mornings, the long drive to work listening to radiolab, or those precious minutes in the office by myself before all my coworkers (who i love) arrive. that time is special, rejuvenative!

  2. I've tried all sleeping patterns through time. Generally, when my soul is peaceful, sleeping follows. I'll always love sleeping in a bit however...
    PS Love those prints!!

  3. I Hate mornings! Haha ;)
Usually, I go to bed around 2AM and wake up around 10! And before 10am, you can't ask me ANYTHING, I don't exist...

  4. I've always secretly wished I was a morning person, and have tried several times to make myself be one. But alas, I'm just a night owl at heart! I'm always more awake at night, and no matter what I try, am utterly useless in the morning.

  6. This one is hard for me to pick. While I LOVE sleep, and could sleep in every day, I am really more productive in the morning, and I have found no matter what time I get up, I am ready to go when I get out of bed. I don't need time to warm up or have my coffee, I'm ready to have a full on conversation, which drives most people nuts, so I have to be careful. I guess I AM a morning person.

  7. I'm totally a night person! I always find myself "accidentally" up at 1 or 2 am when I have to work the next day, and have to get up at 6am. I really wish I was a morning person, but if given the opportuntiy to sleep in everyday you probably wouldnt see me until well past 11:00! haha :)

  8. I don't like sleeping in past 10am. BUT I do like to be up at 2am sometimes, and I'm more of a night owl.I feel like i'm going to miss something fun if I go to bed too early.

  9. I'm a morning person. During the week I need to be up by 5:00 for work. On the weekends I still get up by 6:00. I love how quiet and peaceful mornings are. Since I get up so early I'm rarely up past 9pm.

  10. I'm more of a morning person during the week. I love getting my grocery shopping and errands done BEFORE getting to work at 8:30 am. After work I'm just so tired. Weekends are different - I'll stay up way too late and STILL wake up early. haha

  11. I'm a morning person through and through. When the day doesn't get going until noon, I feel like I've missed the whole day. My boyfriend is a night person, like your Nick, and is up working till 1 or 2am usually. I'm in bed by 10 most nights. We are actually wired differently and apparently night people are better nappers too, while morning folk do better with long uninterrupted sleeps.

  12. i am def not a morning person but i don't like sleeping in past 8am cuz then i feel like i wasted the day. once i have my coffee, i can get myself into high gear. i also find that i am most productive in the morning but i get more ideas and creative at night time.

    fun post. :)

  14. I'm definitely a night owl (always have been). In the summers when I was in high school, I would stay awake all night reading books and would finally go to sleep around 7 or 8 in the morning. Something about the peace and quiet of the evening when everyone else is asleep is so encouraging to me. All the distractions and everything else falls away and I'm able to focus and get so much more done! I don't quite take it to that extreme anymore, but I still find myself getting motivated to do chores and whatnot much more in the late evening than any other time of day. I do wish I were a morning person instead.

  18. I always thought I was a night person but Johnny says that's not true. He says I'm neither a night person nor a morning person. He says I have a "good window from 4-6" :/

    Miss you. xoxox

  19. My most productive time is for sure before lunch, so I guess I am more of a morning person. I do love mornings. Also back in Estonia I went to bed before midnight, because in winter it gets dark so early one gets sleeeeeepy. All of it has changed now that I live in Spain. In summer I get an energy kick late in the evening (when the sun goes down and the heat cools down). I can easily be up until 1 am, at least. Which of course makes mornings a bit harder. In general waking up around 8-9 would be perfect for me. Middle ground. :)

  20. I'm far more of a night owl. On days off, I sleep until 11 a.m. most days and stay away into the night.

  21. I am definitely night person and my husband is more of a morning person. Needless to say we have both had to do some compromising. xx. McKenna Lou

  22. I've always been a night owl. I think it's because I grew up playing video games late into the night. (It's the only way I could play them for hours without my parents telling me to study instead.) Ironically enough, late night is when I did the best studying in college. I still have the habit of my brain working harder at night, so I sleep in during the morning. Luckily, my class this semester is in the evening, so I can afford to sleep in and let my brain do its thing during the darker hours.

  23. Even though I don't mind waking up early and getting a start fresh to the day, I'm definitely a night person. I do my best thinking and design work in the late hours. My husband also works the night shifts at the hospital so it kinda works out for things to be quite and get my to-do list done without any distraction!

  24. haha totally a night person! i sleep at 3-4am everyday since my most productive time is 9-2amish.... i know it's not good for health but i cant help myself :(

  25. I'm totally a night person. I wake up pretty early and I'm tired throughout the day, but night time comes and I'm awake and most inspired and ready to work. I don't like it, because I feel like everyone is the opposite.

  26. Ever since Day lights saving, I've been sleeping way later than I normally would. So I would say I'm more of a night owl.

  28. Yikes, as I type this comment I have already been up since 5:00. I went to bed at 12:30 which is typical, as my creative mode is from 10:00 to 3:00 am when the bird's start tweeting.Bad sleep habit's, great art and me time!:O

  29. I have found that I am much, much more productive if I am up early in the morning. If I sleep too late, my whole day is shot. But interestingly enough, I love late nights as well. It's like the middle of the day is just not my time!

  30. Totally a morning person here! I'm with you, I feel totally weird if I'm in bed past a certain time and that's usually how I can tell if I'm getting sick. Otherwise, most days I'm up around 5AM.

  31. I am also a morning person-6:30 at the latest- and I am not sure that I have slept later than 8 since I was in college.

  32. I'm definitely a night owl. I love sleeping in and I struggle to be productive the first few hours of the day.

  33. Those prints are so sweet!
I like the idea of being a morning person, but find it so hard to wake up and actually get out of bed early. But on the days I do manage to wake up early, I love the feeling. I love leisurely mornings, having a big breakfast and catching up on blogs with a cup of coffee, but I also love that I can get so much accomplished before I need to be at work at 11:00.

  34. I'm a morning person too, and also like to be in be about 10! I can't really sleep in (my body clock won't let me!) plus I hate feeling like I'm wasting the day. Although I do love going out at night - there's just something so magical about the night. But I don't like working late, I get slower, my work isn't as good and I prefer to start afresh in the morning. I think there are more night owls than morning people out there though...!

  35. I very much wish I was a morning person, I love being awake in the early morning, getting early starts, seeing the sunrise but it is not in my biology. Even as a baby I stayed up late. Maybe one day...
